John Galliano Is Back With Debut Collection For Maison Martin Margiela
It has been four years since John Galliano made his very public exit from Dior but it would seem that the fashion world is ready to let bygones be bygones and has welcomed Galliano back. At London Collection: Men, Galliano made his debut as the Creative Director for Maison Martin Margiela. Only 100 people were lucky enough to be invited to view the “artisanal,” couture collection with front row seats were filled by fashion royalties such as Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Nicola Formachetti, Christopher Bailey and of course Anna Wintour.
Galliano showed the fashion world that four years might have passed but his signature extravagance and bold silhouettes appeared on the catwalk as though they never left. The complete collection of 24 looks brought together black, white and red in the form of skyhigh platforms, hybrids of trousers and dresses, took fabrics such as velvet and denim and amalgamated it all into one hell of an embellished showcase. Like the rest of the fashion world, the COLE office was also waiting to see the show and we loved it!
